At Azure we believe it’s important to be happy and healthy at work, so making sure that we have the right team in place is at the core of everything we do.

Meet Kamal, Helly, Byron and Esther – our family! Kamal and Helly take care of the esthetics side of the house, Dr. Byron Ham takes care of injectable and medical treatments.

Kamal has owned and operated the spa for over 20 years. Many of our clients have also been with us from the very beginning and become a part of our extended family. She’s the right blend of professional and caring and has an esthetician and electrologist background. It’s always been her calling to pamper people and help them look and feel like their best selves. Her sense of aesthetic also translates to the décor and layout of the spa – chic and cozy just like her. She’s the “Mother Hen” and treats everybody like one of her little chicks, nurturing and encouraging everyone every day. That’s Kamal in a nutshell!

Doctor Byron Ham has been practicing medicine for over 40 years. He is the type of Doctor we all wish we had, good listener, kind soul and a fantastic practitioner. He manages to combine a busy general practice with his love of esthetics, busy social life, and passion for travel.  Dr. Ham has been practicing medical esthetics for over nine years and enjoys the experience of making people feel better about themselves. He is also the Medical Director at Azure Skin Care and Dermessentials on Vancouver Island.

Helly has over 20 years of experience as a Skin Therapist. She started her career as a Clinical Chemist, but when she moved to Canada she was retrained as an Aquatic Biologist, working in various parts of BC as well as a three and a half year stint at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco. Needless to say, she is one knowledgeable and skilled gal. After moving back to BC, Helly went to work for an esthetics doctor who saw her passion for learning and her empathy for others. She was offered the opportunity to train as a Medical Skin Therapist for the practice and then transitioned to Azure. Helly believes that knowledge and preventative methods are the fundamentals of skin health. Every day she educates her clients as well as treating them and always up for a good laugh or smile. Helly continues to educate herself in as many aspects of skin care and esthetics as she can. That’s Helly our skin care expert and ray of sunshine!
