We understand that a lot of people are nervous about the term “laser” as it pertains to hair removal. Images of a zapping wand tent to come to mind, but we wanted to ease your concerns and further explain the process to our reading audience, calming your worries, and answering some common questions.
What to Expect During Laser Hair Removal
Firstly, it should be noted that it is ideal to shave the day before your treatment. Once you arrive, you will be required to wear the appropriate eye protection, and a cold gel pack will be applied to your skin previous to the actual treatment. This helps the laser penetrate the skin, and also lessens any discomfort the laser might create.
We will ensure you are comfortable throughout the process, adjusting the laser according to your skin colour, your hair thickness, and the location of the hair being treated. We will watch to see how the skin reacts to the laser, and adjust it with each session as required.
After the treatment is completed, we will apply an ice pack and anti-inflammatory cream, ensuring your optimal care and comfort is addressed at all times.
From that point, each subsequent appointment can be scheduled four to six weeks apart, until your hair discontinues growing.
Recovery and Risks of Laser Hair Removal
Post-treatment, you skin might appear to have a slight sunburn, and it might be sensitive to warm water, so applying a cool compress can be helpful. Otherwise, you should be fit to go about your day, wearing makeup or lotions as normal.
