Although we’re still in the midst of fall, the colder months are all considered to be ‘winter skin season’, and can wreak havoc on the biggest organ in/on your body – your skin!
Azure Skin Care + Medical can help you address this, offering our resident skin therapist – Helly, to deliver solutions for a variety of your skincare concerns, providing tips on ways to combat dry skin – and more.
Changing Seasons Require a Different Skincare Routine
Just as we change our wardrobe to reflect the weather, so too do we need to change up our skincare routine to keep ourselves looking radiant, and there are a variety of ways to do so.
Put Some ‘Moisturize’ the Air – cold air outside, contrasted with warm and dry air inside, is the perfect recipe for dry and itchy skin. Our skin is our body’s first layer of protection, so protecting this barrier by adding moisture into the air in your home is a good starting point, and can be easily done by running an essential oil humidifier in your space. This will balance the air in your home, as well as ‘clean’ it – so to speak.
Upgrade Your Moisturizer – to something a little more robust that offers crucial moisture to keep your skin hydrated. As well, apply moisturizer as soon as you get out of the bath or shower to help with absorption, and add in serums or oils for your skin is an excellent idea also – something we are here to help with!
Lighten Up on the Exfoliation – even though that might sound like the opposite of what you think you should be doing, it’s true. When your skin becomes increasingly dry, you actually don’t want to exfoliate it as often. Instead, you will want to add moisturizer to try and combat the dryness and only exfoliate every few days. Use an enzymatic or leave-on exfoliant rather than a scrub.
