Similar to the theory that “what goes up, must come down”, the thought that “what goes in, must come out” seems to have an equal truth to it.

Simply put – what we put in our bodies must come out in a variety of ways. Including the appearance of our skin, hair, teeth and nails, as well as out our overall health.

Often times people turn to face products as their hopeful “quick fix” to skin conditions, fine lines, wrinkles, and the overall look of their skin, but what if we told you it might be equally – if not more so – important what you put IN your body, as what you put ON it?

Feeding the Body for Beauty

What you feed your body will have a direct impact on your hair, skin, and nails, in addition to having an impact on your overall health. So what are the best food and drink for better skin?

Water

Water is the most natural and beneficial way to keep you skin hydrated, full and healthy. Your cells are comprised of water, so keeping those cells in good repair means keeping your fluid levels up.

A lot of foods will contain water, but drinking the recommended 8 glasses of water will aid in the healthy appearance of your skin, and drinking beyond that will add to the benefits.

Fruit

Various fruits contain high antioxidant properties, ensuring your body is getting rid of “the bad” and fills up on things that make it healthy. Fruits high in antioxidants include: blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, and plums, and many others can be found with such properties also.

Essential Fatty Acids

Skin that is young is purely “plump”. What do all babies have in common? They are round as they are long, and this is because their cells are ripe with water. As we age our skin’s ability to hold water decreases, so essential fatty acids can help to combat that, keeping our membranes in shape, and reducing saggy and aged looking skin. EFAs are found in: flax seeds, walnuts, salmon and Omega 3-6-9 oils.

Taking these four areas into consideration, along with a healthy skincare routine, will all aid in the healthy glow and appearance of your skin, keeping you ageless from the inside out!
